INTRODUCTION TO THE MICROSOFT WINDOWS 10 DESKTOP:

Windows is operating system software that controls all the parts of your computer. It uses a Graphical user interface (GUI). This kind of interface displays graphical objects called Icons, which represent the items you use. 

The icons are the small pictures that when clicked activate the main item. All computers that use the windows operating system have a common user interface that makes it easy to learn and use different programs that run under windows. 

Windows operating system gets its name from a rectangular box called windows that is used to display information and other programs. Multiple windows can be opened at the same time making it easier to move from one task to another. 

Desktop icons and components:

The computer screen displays the window called desktop. It displays icons that represent various tools and features like your own normal desk at home or workplace, you can add and remove items from the desktop, rearrange items, or get rid of items by throwing them into the trash (recycling bin). You can also open items and much like a drawer in your normal desk. The initial window screen displays icons such as my computer, recycling bin, etc. 

At the bottom of the screen is the Taskbar. The Taskbar displays the start button on the left end of the bar, it is used to start all programs. It displays buttons representing currently active tasks as you use windows. The clock on the right end of the Taskbar displays the current time set on your computer. You can see the notification area. This displays indicators such as printer when printing is in progress or speaker if your system includes other hardware.

PEAKING AT THE DESKTOP:

Peeking allows you to quickly preview your desktop 🖥 by hovering your mouse over that tiny rectangle in the lower corner next to your notifications as well as when you hover your mouse over any Taskbar buttons. You can turn to peek on and off easily. 

HOW TO GET THUMBNAIL PREVIEWS IN WINDOWS 10:

Press Windows key+S and enter advanced system settings. Choose View advanced system settings from the Menu. In the Performance, section Click on the Settings button. A list of options will appear. Click Save Taskbar thumbnail previews and show thumbnails instead of icons.

DESKTOP COMPONENTS:

The desktop 🖥 provides components that enable you to perform actions such as starting an application and switching between applications. These components include the following:

The Taskbar:

The windows operating system displays all the active applications as buttons on the Taskbar that is located at the bottom of the desktop. It also displays the date/time in the right corner of the bar. Notification icons can also be found on the Taskbar, such as speakers, printers, etc. Other launching icons can also be found on the Taskbar.

The Start Menu:

The Start menu button is in the leftmost corner of the Taskbar.

It is the table of contents for all the apps (programs), folders, and contacts you use often. 

In the desktop mode, all the app icons appear in an alphabetical list on the left side of the screen, and they can be made to appear on the right side as tiles. 

If the tiles are "live", they can display changing information from the application in real life time such as stock quotes or the weather.

Click the start button to display the start menu. 

Alternatively, hold the Ctrl key and press the Esc key to display the Start menu. 

You can also press the Menu key on your keyboard.

What are tiles in the start menu?

Tiles, for the uninitiated, are those colored squares you see when you click the Windows start button. 

The ones with images or messages in them are called live tiles and are updated over the internet. 

The flat ones with programs icons in them are not live and will open the program associated with them. 

Cortana:

Cortana is a virtual assistant that can help you perform tasks.  You can use Cortana to set a reminder, schedule a meeting, search the internet, find answers to questions, locate an item on your computer or windows phone, 

manage your tasks and much more.

President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo to Commission Sunyani Airport

President Akufo-Addo sets to commission Sunyani Airport – Transport Minister 

Barring all odds, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will commission the Sunyani Airport for domestic flight operation to begin this year, Mr Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, the Minister of Transport has announced.

The Minister said the first phase of the rehabilitation and expansion of the airport was virtually completed, saying the President would also perform a ground-breaking ceremony for work to begin on the second phase of the project.

Mr Asiamah gave the announcement when he inspected the progress of work on the facility in Sunyani on Tuesday July 19.

He was accompanied by Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Chereme, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East and some senior officials of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Mr Asiamah said he was highly impressed about the work done so far, particularly on the runway, and commended the contractors for the good work.

He expressed worry about the level of encroachment on the airport’s land, saying discussion were ongoing between the GACL, GACC, traditional authorities and the encroachers to help resolve the situation.

Mr Asiamah cautioned estate developers, individuals and all potential land buyers to be vigilant in order not to encroach on the remaining land at the Airport.

Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister explained the commissioning of the facility would open up the region and spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.

She said it was always hectic for people in the region to travel long hours to Accra and expressed the hope that the people would patronize the facility to enhance domestic air transport.

The Regional Minister said she was optimistic that the facility would be commissioned for commercial flight operation in the next two weeks, saying Passion and other domestic airlines were all ready to commence operations in Sunyani.

She emphasised the Bono Region had huge economic prospects, saying, flight operations would open up the regional capital, boost economic activities, and spur rapid socio-economic growth and development.

The Sunyani Airport was originally constructed as an Airstrip and later upgraded into an airport in 1969 and it currently has a total runway length of about 1,520.

In 2015, GACL and the GCAA shut down the airport as a precautionary measure to forestall disaster.

3 suspects arrested at Sefwi Bekwai in connection with the alleged murder of the 27 year lady. 

The deceased, known as Martha Tetteh, a resident of Kumasi in the Ashanti region, had traveled to S/Bekwai on June 27,2022 allegedly to consult a spiritualist. 

The Suspects are: Solomon Sam (Paa Solo), John Nana Addai (Akwasi Kokoreh) and Osofo Attah (Prince Attah). 

The suspects were put before court on Thursday, July 21,2022 and were remanded to appear on August 4,2022.

The body is kept at Bibiani Government hospital for further investigations and Autopsy.

The incident has put fears among the people of the area. People have no conscience about what they will do against their fellow human being. It is very terrible as we always hear sad news happening across the Country. Some of the residence at Sefwi Bekwai who rushed to the scene invited the police to take body to the hospital for further investigation.. 

THE DANGER OF DATING A CATHOLIC SEMINARIAN

There was a recent tweet about dating priests and seminarians that has been staring the air and raising a lot tension among some ladies and some seminarians. It states, " Stop dating your parish priest. Stop dating the seminarians that are sent to work in your parish". Personally, I have had the cause to talk to some ladies several times on this same issue; the issue of priests and seminarians dating or involving themselves in some erroneous relationships against their priestly call/vows. The issue of priests and seminarians having intimate relationships is one that can never be overemphasized and it also an issue and a crime most priests and seminarians are guilty of. The truth remains that there can never be any moral, theological or medical standing or justification as to why seminarians and priests should date. Whether we like it or not, and whether we believe it or not, the idea of priests and seminarians keeping intimate relationships with the opposite sex is appalling, it has been rejected by the society, the christian faith frowns at it, and most importantly, it is a thing that shouldn't be heard of morally.

Just of recent, a lady friend was sharing with me about her involvement with a Catholic seminarian. In her words, "I sincerely love this seminarian but I am not at ease with the relationship. My conscience keeps judging me. I have tried so many times to end the relationship but he has always convinced me to remain. At times, I feel like I am doing a lot of disservice to myself and to the church at large but I am not ready to lose him. He has a unique way of expressing his love for me which makes me love him even the more. Brother I am confused, I don't know what to do. Should I continue with the relationship? Or should I just end it and deal with the heartbreak?".

A wise man once said, "the most difficult person to give advice to, is one whose mind has already been made up". I knew for a certain that the sister in question knows the answer to her question but for some reasons she decided to ask me. Maybe it was meant to put me to test. I did not take much time in advising her. My answer to her was very plain, straight to the point, and down to earth. "END THE RELATIONSHIP". And I quickly added, "to think that you can talk him into seeing reasons why you should end the relationship will be very senseless and baseless, because you can never win such arguments with him. With or without reasons just end the relationship for your own peace of mind and for your spiritual growth".

Priests and seminarians are so gifted with sweet tongues so much so that ladies hardly escape their nests. It only takes the grace of God for one lady out of ten to say no to a priest or seminarian's proposal. Little wonder, a friend once said, "it is as if they are taught how to woo women in the seminary".

 

As a lady, to think that you can use reason to speak them out of relationship is deadly, they have all the philosophy. Some can even give you reasons why you can date the pope. Don't ever make the mistake of using faith as your basis for argument because they are well-equipped with theology. They can convince you into believing that Jesus had a spouse while on Earth. Using emotions on them won't work, because they have a full knowledge of psychology. They may even use your emotions against you. Just say NO with no reasons and let your NO be NO.
To ladies, let me advise you. The danger with dating priests and seminarians is that, they can decide at any time to be serious with their vocation. Their consciences can prick them at any point in time and when that happens, you will be at the receiving end. You will be left to handle the heartbreak alone. 

Secondly, in the occasion of any abnormality (pregnancy or sickness), they will treat you like a nonentity. No priest or seminarian will be ready to sacrifice his vocation for you. Don't be fooled. If you succeed in causing one his vocation, believe me you will be prime and greatest enemy in life. He will detest you with so much hatred, even three times more than the love he claimed he had for you.  It will only take the grace of God and the intervention of the Holy spirit for you to be accepted back as a friend.Thirdly, when it comes to relationships, no being can be as deceptive as priests and seminarians. They say so many things that they don't mean at all. They are experts in expressing fake love. They can swear heaven and Earth when it comes to matters of the heart but in truth, they have little or zero feelings for you. The will make you believe that you are the only one but my sister, you are not among the top 20 in the list. They can make you destroy your beautiful and healthy relationships for them but they won't hesitate to push you away when they don't feel your need anymore.

Furthermore, it will interest you to know that, that class of persons can lead you astray and still be safe. They have a unique way of reuniting with with the lord and seeking for pardon. You will be deceived that you are all sinners, which is true but the difference however comes in repentance and asking for mercy. They will kill your faith and quench your burning zeal for the presence of God while they struggle on building theirs.
Finally, you will be shocked and be heartbroken to find out that priests and seminarians that you get involve with are only seeing you as a sex dull or a machine for sexual gratifications. And that is why they can easily relate your case with their friends and if possible try to toss you round among them like a coin. My sister why go through that mental trauma?

Dating them will bring a curse upon yourself. You may find it hard to find a husband and even when you manage to get one, you may live an unhappy marital life.  

NOTE: I know this piece will puncture a lot of relationships and hamper lots of friendships which I might be a victim myself, but the truth needs to be told. Let us call a spade a spade. BE WARNED.

Condoms are available over-the-counter (OTC), without a prescription, from supermarkets, drugstores, or online. Latex-free condoms are also available to buy online.

2. Female condoms:

Female condoms are also available without a prescription. They can be used instead of a male condom, but should never be used with one.

5. Sponge:

The contraceptive sponge is a method of birth control that a person can buy without a prescription. Made of polyurethane foam and containing spermicide, the sponge is placed deep inside the vagina to block entry to the uterus

Used alone, the sponge is 76 to 88 percent Trusted Source effective, but using it with a condom further reduces the risk of pregnancy and STIs.

Contraceptive sponges are available to buy online.

6. Spermicide:

Spermicide is a chemical that inactivates sperm. It is available to buy without a prescription and is used with forms of barrier contraception, such as condoms, but not with the sponge.

11. IUDs:

Hormonal: Once fitted, an IUD lasts for at least 5 years before it needs replacing. IUD’s do not completely stop ovulation but act as contraception by thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm entering the uterus, as well other hormonal changes. Brand names include Mirena, Kyleena, Liletta, and Skyla.

Copper-based: Sold as ParaGard, this hormone-free IUD is covered in copper wire, which destroys sperm trying to enter the uterus. One IUD can prevent pregnancy for approximately 10 years.

Adverse reactions include spotting between periods, irregular periods, and menstrual cramps.

12. Implants:

Implants are another form of hormonal birth control. A nurse or doctor inserts a matchstick-sized rod into a person’s arm to protect against pregnancy.

Implants work by releasing the hormone progestin into the body, which prevents ovulation. The CDC estimate that implants are also greater than 99 percent Trusted Source effective for contraception.

Implants must be replaced about every 3 years.

Coronation Sunday: Free entry for women and children as Kotoko lifts 2021/22 league trophy

The National Sports Authority (NSA) and the management of league champions Asante Kotoko are planning a possible free stadium entry for as many supporters as possible as the “Porcupine Warriors” are crowned winners of the 2021/22 league season at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will play Elmina Sharks in a coronation match on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

It will also be the day when the porcupines will be presented with the league-wining trophy.

But, already, there are fears, the stadium may not have a large crowd considering the poor attendance at match venues this season.

As part of the club’s efforts to make the coronation match memorable, a decision has been taken to let ladies and children enter the Kumasi Stadium for free.

In an interview with Luv Fm’s, Delali Atiase, Acting Ashanti Regional Director of the NSA, Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, has been explaining further what conditions have been set for free entry in Sunday’s historic encounter.

“On Sunday, we have two matches. We have the women’s FA Cup final; Ampem Darkoa Ladies vs Hasaacas Ladies that will be played around 3pm and then 6pm, Kotoko will be playing Elmina Sharks.

The Teacher Unions have threatened the Gov't for Another Brouhaha

 The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission says it will soon meet all stakeholders to determine if the 20 percent Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) demanded by teachers will be paid.

NAGRAT and other teacher unions have given a June 30 deadline for the government to pay the allowance or face a series of industrial actions.

According to NAGRAT, the current economic hardship has made teachers worse off, hence the demand for allowances to be paid.

But the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission maintains that all relevant stakeholders must come on board for a final determination of the payment.

“It’s fair that stakeholders can propose the payment of COLA or any other allowance, but at the end of the day, we have to get to the table with organized labor, government, and all other parties to determine whether COLA will be paid. “We, therefore, demand that, as a matter of urgency, the Government must grant workers a Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) of 20% at the end of June 2022. Leadership would be left with no option but to declare a strike by the end of July 2022, if all the requests made are not adhered to. A Football 🏈 Club in South Africa is permanently Banned from Football Activities

A club permanently banned from football after scoring 59 goals in one match

A Limpopo-based club in the lower division of the South African football system has been banned for life after scoring fifty-nine goals in one match.

Matiyasi FC, who were vying for promotion to the Provincial ABC Motsepe League, beat Nsami Mighty Birds 59-1, with forty-one of the goals scored as own-goals.

A player who was recorded to have been given a red card in the first half was also recorded to have scored a goal in the second half.

The incident occurred last week and the South African Football Association (SAFA) has swiftly reacted.

According to FarPost.co.za, SAFA’s regional office in Limpopo summoned both clubs to a Disciplinary Committee hearing on 25 May 2022 in Giyani.

The teams were charged and found guilty of corruption and contravening the association’s statutes.

In the verdict, the clubs have been permanently banned from all football activities while the officials implicated from both clubs have also been given a five-year suspension within the region.

In another match from the same league, Shivulani Dangerous Tigers beat Kototo Happy Boys 33-1 on the same date. Seven own goals were also recorded.

The teams were also found guilty of contravening the SAFA rules and were handed a life-ban from all football activities. 

The South African Football Association (SAFA) will investigate an incident that broke out at an ABC Motsepe League game over the weekend. MM Platinum beat Dondol Stars 1-0 in a clash that featured two sides in the top three of Gauteng Stream B, in the league. Dondol Stars were unhappy with the refereeing during the encounter. After the game, Dondol Stars fans wanted to attack the referee and he had to be rescued by the team's chairperson.
